Home on the Range

Public. The lounge in PG that makes you forget your in PG.

I spent my spring break in Prince George. How nice it was to visit. Reaffirms why I won't ever move back. Just not my type of environment anymore. But what a great place to raise a family. Own a home. Have some peace of mind. Save some gas (it takes 10 minutes to get anywhere in that town). Everybody you meet is so friendly. No egos. No attitudes. Safe to walk the streets at night.

I drove by my old house and felt sad that someone else lived in it now. I drove to Wilson Park. The park where I would skip rocks and take my dog for a walk. I drove past the "rock hill" The hill of all hills that we would climb when it was covered in ice and snow to get to school. I saw the old McDonalds Restaurant which I had my birthday parties at- boarded up.... This made me very upset. How dare they close that McD's!
What I was most surprised by was the development happening in Prince George. First at the airport. Bill Gates? International flights?? Then the New Casino. Great... Get more people addicted to gambling. What happened to the baseball fields I would have my bball games at... the ones across Superstore. So sad! Then by my old highschool. Which is now surrounded by Home Depot, and Walmart. The new Sikh Temple! Wow. Beautiful inside. Cant believe how many Punjabi parents know my name. All those Starbuck Coffee Huts- now everywhere!! People Tim Hortons is better. Cheaper. And has Roll Up the Rim to Win. Oh! And the restaurants. Kudos to North 54. Love the food. Atmosphere. Service.
And I must say. A lounge like Public in PG! Interesting.
And although as my cousin puts it I am hurtin cause I don't like the club scene and I refused to go... Since when is the Cadillac Ranch popular. And what was wrong with the name "Monk" and why call it Rum Jungle?????
UNBC- What in the heck happened to the library. CNC at least you still mostly the same...
My favourite part of the whole trip. Seeing family. Taking a nap in the day. Playing Wii. Cruising with my cousins. Spending time with my husband. We don't even see each other that much in Vancouver.

It was a trip I won't forget.
But on the plane ride home. When we were about to land. And I saw the beauty of Vancouver I couldn't help but smile. It is so beautiful here. I don't care if I can only afford a townhouse in Vancouver, unlike the 4 bedroom home in Prince George.
Live within your means. And you can find happiness anywhere.
